SSDI Awards Remain Low in May, Number of SSDI Beneficiaries Paid Drops Again
The number of newly awarded Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) claimants remains historically low, according to new data just released from the Social Security Administration. Nationwide SSDI awards have now been below 70,000 in nine of the past 11 months.
In addition, the number of SSDI beneficiaries receiving monthly payments fell again in May, marking the seventh time in the past 8 months.
The graph below further illustrates the downward trend in award volumes since 2010.
