Social Security Awards Slow Further In July

The Social Security Administration released two pieces of data that confirmed July was a very slow month for issuing SSDI awards.

First, the data reveals a monthly decline in July of 10.6 percent from June. The volume of awards (64,155) was the 5th lowest month since February 2008.

In addition, the authorized representative fee payments (29,566) made by SSA were the 3rd lowest month since January 2010. Since these fee payments are usually paid at the same time that the claimant is paid, these numbers are indicative of how many awards are being issued by the agency and how fast awarded claimants are having their benefits issued.
